U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann was “glittered” by a gay rights activist as she left the stage at a conservative conference in Minneapolis, Minn., on Saturday.
Get Equal, a California gay rights group, did the honors, citing Bachmann's support for a same-sex marriage ban and her “history of anti-gay rhetoric.”
“You can run, but you cannot hide! Keep your hate out of our Constitution!” shouted Rachel E. B. Lang, who threw glitter at the GOP presidential candidate.
Lang actually did a lackluster job with the glitter (which is really more like confetti), largely missing Bachmann before security hauled her off REALLY fast:
Michele Bachmann Gets Glittered
Get Equal said that Lang's words were a reference to to the conservative “You Can Run But You Cannot Hide” ministry for which Bachmann raised money.
Bachmann is not the first GOP presidential candidate to be glittered.
On Thursday, representatives from the groups Reproductive Rights and CODEPINK showered former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty with pink confetti.
Newt Gingrich was similarly hit with glitter at a book signing back in May. Basically, no Republican is safe. Well, except N.Y. State Sen. Roy McDonald.
