Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 and died on April 15, 1865. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States. Abraham Lincoln grew up in poor families in the western frontier, Abraham Lincoln was mostly taught himself. Abraham Lincoln became the state attorney, an Illinois state legislator, and member of one term of the United States House of Representatives but failed in two attempts at a seat in the United States Senate.

Abraham Lincoln's extraordinary efforts to attain knowledge while working on a farm, splitting rails for fences, and keeping store at New Salem, Illinois. Abraham Lincoln was a captain in the Black Hawk War, spent eight years in the Illinois legislature, and increased circuit court for years. His law partner said of Abraham Lincoln, "Abraham Lincoln was the ambition of small machine that knows rest."

Abraham Lincoln married Mary Todd, and they have four boys, only one of them lived to maturity. In 1858 Abraham Lincoln ran against Stephen A. Douglas for Senator. Abraham Lincoln lost the election, but in debating with Douglas Abraham Lincoln obtained a national reputation that won the nomination for President of the Republic in 1860.

As an opponent of slavery, Abraham Lincoln won the nomination as president of the United States from the Republican Party in 1860 and then elected as president.

Abraham Lincoln reign marked by the defeat of the Confederate States of America, a pro-slavery, the American Civil War. He issued a decree which ordered the abolition of slavery through the Proclamation of Emancipation in 1863, adding Article of the thirteenth to the U.S. Constitution in 1865.
