Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born on September 4, 1981, commonly known as Beyonce mononym. Beyonce is an American R & B recording artist, actress and fashion designer. Beyonce was born and raised in Houston, Texas, she enrolled in various performing arts schools. A normal childhood was not in the books for Beyonce. At 8 years, she met LaTavia Robertson while auditioning for music female group and Matthew Knowles, Beyonce's father and manager, later paired the two with LeToya Luckett. In 1992, cousin Kelly Rowland joined the group, and they performed together on Star Search. Beyonce rose to fame since the late 1990s as lead singer R & B girl group Destiny's Child.

In 2001, Beyoncé, Rowland, and Michelle Williams allowed themselves a break from singing group and tried their hands at individual solo careers. Before landing several movie roles, Beyonce became the first female artist of African-American and second woman ever to win the annual ASCAP Pop Songwriter of the Year Award.
