Albert Einstein was a theoretical physicist who is widely regarded as the greatest scientist in the 20th century. He put forward the theory of relativity and also greatly contributed to the development of quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, and cosmology. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 for his explanation of the photoelectric effect and "for his services to Theoretical Physics ".

In 1896 Albert Einstein entered the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Z
urich to receive training as a teacher in physics and mathematics. In 1901, Albert Einstein get the diploma, he acquired Swiss citizenship and, because he could not find a teaching post, he accepted a position as technical assistant at the Swiss Patent Office. In 1905, while working as a patent clerk in Bern, Switzerland, Einstein had what came to be known as his "Annus Mirabilis" — or "miracle year". It was during this time that the young physicist obtained his Doctorate degree and published four of his most influential research papers, including the Special Theory of Relativity.
